Coconut Oil for Skincare

Coconut Oil has many health benefits. Its one of the best oils to cook with because of its saturated fats(good fat!) its super in our diet with its amazing nutrient content which we need for growth and repair. But instead of just taking it internally you can add it to your skincare routine, it might just save your skin.....

Coconut oil has 3 fatty acids that make it stand out from others- Capric/Caprylic/Lauric Acid. These have strong antibacterial and disinfectant properties. As a result when applied to the skin, coconut oil will protect against infections that can get into open wounds. It may help speed up the healing process of your skin, improving scaring, breakouts, dryness and redness.

Coconut oil is high in vitamin E and protein - making it great for repair of damage to the skin and improve overall moisture. It can prevent premature ageing and wrinkling of the skin. The protein in coconut oil will help repair cellular tissue damage on or near the skin.

Its also great as a lip conditioner- its got no chemicals unlike lip balms so its got longer lasting hydrating effects (pucker up!)

Add it to your weekly body exfoliation routine.. Take a few spoons of sugar and a few drops of coconut oil & mix together. And there you have it- the most natural form of exfoliation! And cheaper!

Hair care... I add about 2 spoons to my hair before I shampoo it, I leave it on for about 20 mins or sleep in it. I Wash it out with shampoo and then condition. Your hair will feel like silk! I do this almost every week (when I remember!)

What i have just started to do is apply coconut oil to my eyelashes and eyebrows for a bit of nourishing and hoping (praying) it helps grow my little eyebrows! I add in a bit of castor oil to the coconut oil when I apply it to my brows and lashes- as this is 'said' to help stimulate hair growth (We shall see!)

Well there you have it, the benefits of using coconut oil on your lovely skin. I don't always use it on my skin. I do see more results with more active ingredients in my products. But, in saying that, for an organic and natural oil it has amazing properties. Every now and then it does no harm. Im going to be doing it a little more often than usual at the moment because my skin has become quite dry over here with the weather changes.

We all have different skin so its not going to be everyones cup of tea, But sure give it a go!
