Glowing Skin- From the inside

Do you want to enhance your skins complexion? Would you like to have healthy, glowing looking skin? Have you a event coming up that you just want to look flawless for? Or is your skin just looking quite dull lately?




Heres some of my tips on how to make your skin great ASAP! 

1.What we put into our body defiantly shows on the outside, if you have a diet high in sugar, dairy, gluten, saturated fat, and alcohol this can show up on your skin. Your skin may be drier than usual, you may be seeing some breakouts that aren't always there and some underlying congestion in some areas. 

We all like to indulge, But if your seeing changes in your skin and you think it could be diet related- perhaps give up some things for a few weeks and see what changes it makes to your skin (and you may see other changes aswel in your body and mood) 

2.Making sure you drink plenty of water (2litres at least everyday) and include plenty fresh fruit & veg (especially green leafy veg), Nuts (handful is enough) Good Fats (avocados) Protein (eggs) Omega (fish) in your diet. These all contribute to a healthy immune system, and production of cells in our body. Which all shows on the outside (our skin). When we are feeding our body with wholesome foods our cells are getting the right nourishment to reproduce (grow and repair). 

Our skin is always changing. It takes 28 days for new cells to be produced so your not going to see a change in your skin after giving up chocolate and fizzy drinks for 10 days, its going to take at least ( 4-6 weeks) but you will see the changes! 

3.Good Skincare is a must. We all know we need to cleanse,tone,moisturise & apply Spf everyday, twice a day. But how many of us actually do it!?? These steps are important if you want healthy looking skin. (And you will age a lot better if you do it religiously!) 

Supermarket products are ok, they are affordable and they are better than using nothing. But as I wrote in my blog a few months back, its all about ingredients. Using active ingredients such as Alpha hydroxy acids, glycolic acids, antioxidants etc are much more beneficial for your skin. These , ingredients are alot more expensive to get, so thats why some products differ in price. Many cosmetic products sold with mineral oils, parabens and alcohol can actually do more damage to your skin than help it. Know what your putting into your skin.

4.Weekly Facials at home. Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week. Use steam before hand to open the pores and let the product go deeper into the skin. Apply a face mask on clean dry skin after you have exfoliated,  choose one depending on your skin type. Leave on for as long as possible. Do this 1-2 week. And on one other day that week, sleep on the face mask. Your skin regenerates as you sleep so the mask will penetrate in and you will wake up will glowing skin. (Cream masks for dry skin, Clay masks for oily skin) 

5.Always remove makeup. Makeup looks good, but it looks better when the skin is healthy and clean. So always cleanse and moisturise before applying and again when removing (a double cleanse may be necessary if you are wearing alot of makeup) Sleeping in makup will clog pores and cause congestion and breakouts in the skin. It may not show up right away, but its building up in the lower layers of the skin and you will see it in a matter of days! Avoid using makeup wipes! Keep them for times after a night out when you feel like just sleeping but you know you must remove the slap!    

Now we all cant have perfect skin all the time. Hormones also play a role in how our skin looks. Breakouts around the time of the month are quite hard to prevent. But keeping in mind the above factors, and trying to eat your way to good skin will defiantly help your skin in the long run, and also your body!
