Exfoliate Exfoliate Exfoliate!

Hey Y'all!

Thanks for dropping by... Tonight I just wanted to rant on about the importance of facial Exfoliation.

So many of my clients are skipping this step in their skin care routine. Some of them having not been educated on what an exfoliator is, or how to use it. This is my favourite step in caring for the skin and it makes a HUGE difference to everyones skin type. Your skin will appear brighter, softer and the rest of your products will work better and deeper once you start.

What is Exfoliation?
Don't worry your not alone if your unsure of what this is! Although I was pretty shocked at all my ladies who did not know, but yet are regulars in getting Botox and fillers. Anyway.... Back to the classroom....
Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells from the surface of our skin. All of our skin cells are produced in the bottom layer of the skin, pushing and making their way up to the surface/ top layer.

When the dead skin on the top has not being removed there is a build up of cells clogged in the layers below, trapping the cells so that they cannot reach the surface. This can lead to dry skin, oily skin, pre-mature ageing, large pores, acne, and blackheads.

We have a skin cell cycle of new cells been produced every 28 days, the quicker the cells reach the surface, the better the skin looks. The slower the skin cells reach the surface, the more concerns you will see.

So, of course we all want our skin to look healthy and fresh. And it is easy to do, whether you have naturally good skin or not, we all need to be exfoliating 3-4 times a week.

How do you Exfoliate?
Dampen your skin
Use roughly half a teaspoon of the product
Apply to skin using circular movements, upwards
Rinse with water, using cotton or cloth to remove all granules.

How often should you exfoliate?
X3-4 times for Dry and Ageing skin
X3 Oily/Acne/clogged skin
X2 Normal skin
X1-2 Sensitive skin

My product reccomendations?
There are SO many products out there, if you have a favourite brand then try that one.
Mixing sugar and oil together is a nice homemade one.

Below I have attached photos of my tried and tested favourite exfoliators.

Remember never use your body exfoliator on your face.

Have a lovely weekend and start exfoliating!! :-) Any questions, just drop a line.

Dermalogica is defiantly becoming one of my favourite brands to work with.
They have quite a few exfoliators for all skin types. One for everyone in the audience!
This skin prep scrub is very good for dry and ageing skin types.

This Multivitamin Thermafoliant Exfoliator is super nourishing for Ageing skin
I love it, because it really helps my dry skin.

Ah Elemis, another great range. This is great for all skin types. When I worked with it on the cruise ship- alot of men used it prior to shaving, preventing that bumpy feeling under the skin.

When I wasn't working, I used this cheap and cheerful bottle and It was good as a daily scrub. It is not intense, so if your concerns are dryness or oiliness I would be using a weekly exfoliator aswel as this one.
Again another cheep and cheerful bottle. Use daily, but you will need a deeper exfoliator if wanting to see results with skin. This is great for normal skin types to use weekly.

This bad boy is great! Its a gentle brush that you can use weekly with your exfoliator, its bristles help stimulate the skin while penetrating the product into the skin. Super buy!

Happy exfoliating, Happy skin :-)! Xx
